The Field
Neuroscience is the scientific study of the nervous system, providing a functional account of the biological basis for behavior, emotions, thoughts, and perception. It is an interdisciplinary science that cuts across the boundaries of more traditional departments, including Biology, Psychology, Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, and others. The Neuroscience major provides students with the fundamental scientific concepts, theoretical frameworks, and quantitative skills to study the nervous system and to embark on a wide spectrum of academic and professional careers.
